Frequently Asked Questions

What's an Assumptions Panel?

Assumptions are the key variables that drive the BizGym® Financial Model Template. Most financial modelers take assumptions through long spreadsheets that are easy to get lost within. By separating assumptions out to a separate input device, the process becomes far easier and faster. We also include a number of shortcut devices such as seasonal sales trending that both speeds up the data input process and future evolution of assumptions.

What are Financial Notes?

Sophisticated business people know to dig deep into the assumptions that dive your financial forecasts. Notes areas to justify your assumptions are therefore one of the most important components of your financial forecasts.

What's an Income Statement?

An Income Statement (also known as a Profit and Loss Statement or “P&L”), shows a company’s revenues and expenses during a particular period. It indicates how Revenues (money received from the sale of products and services, also known as the “top line”) are transformed into the Net Income (the result after all revenues and expenses have been accounted for, also known as “net profit” or the “bottom line”). It displays Revenues recognized for a specific period, and the Expenses charged against those Revenues, including Write-offs (e.g., depreciation and amortization of various assets) and Taxes. The purpose of the Income Statement is to show managers and investors whether the company made or lost money during the period being reported.

What's a Cash Flow Statement

A Cash Flow Statement (also known as a Statement of Cash Flows) shows how changes in Balance Sheet Accounts and Income affect available cash resources. In short, the Cash Flow Statement tracks the flow of cash in and out of a business. As an analytical tool, it’s useful toward determining the short-term viability of a company, particularly its ability to pay bills.

What's a Balance Sheet?

A Balance Sheet (or Statement of Financial Position) is a summary of the financial balances a company. A balance sheet is often described as a “snapshot of a company’s financial condition” as it’s the only financial statement that reports on a company’s health at single point in time.
